The Cévennes, the Ardèche mountains...
Set off on an adventure from our hotel, a member of Logis de France!
The location of Hotel Les Sapins (rated 2 fireplaces for accommodation and 2 pots for dining by the Logis de France association) means you’ll be able to visit the best sites in Haute-Loire and Southern Auvergne. Just 15 km away at the borders of the Velay, Vivarais and Gévaudan districts, the village of Pradelles rates among the most beautiful villages in France. It has always been an essential stop on the road between the Auvergne and Languedoc regions. With its crossroad position, the hilltop village of Pradelles at an altitude of 1000 m has an exceptional heritage.
Haute-Loire has some superb religious buildings and great châteaux such as the exceptional site of Puy-en-Velay and its cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (start of the Via Podiensis, part of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage circuit). There’s the former Benedictine abbey of La Chaise-Dieu (a true cathedral in the woods), the fortress of Polignac, and the châteaux of Lavoute and Alempdes.
Don’t miss the volcanic Lake Bouchet (the most visited natural site in Haute-Loire), the spectacular Beaume waterfall, as well as Mount Mézenc, which at its peak reaches 1754 m in altitude at the heart of the Monts d’Ardèche Natural Regional Park. From its summit, the view stretches out from over the Rhone Valley to the Alps, from Mont Blanc and Mont Ventoux over to Plomb du Cantal and Puy de Sancy in the west.
